RE: RE: Is Rock music (as we have known it) dead?

Yes, that's totally true, yet I never took notice before on how that is with the kids today. None of them seem to have a favorite band, when I asked them 'who's your favorite band', they give me several bands or artists, not just one who's their favorite. Plus you're also correct about the "instant gratification" - you can blame that on i-phones, i-pads and all of the other things connected to the new electronic world. They also don't seem to have any care about the past when it comes to music, only what is current seems to matter and although many claim that rock is dying, no, the kids still like rock, just not our rock.

I'm not sure exactly what Gene Simmons meant by what he said about rock dying, but maybe a bit of what he meant is what I'm saying here, that's it's changed. Only thing is, he's still wrong on how he stated this - rock isn't dying, it's just changed to where we can't recognise it today to what it used to be and stand for. Of course, he's also talking about how it is inside the business too, and of course all of this was bound to change in time. Hell, rock's been around now almost 65 years, of course it's different than it was in the 1950s, it was different than what it was in it's first decade by the mid '60s - but then it didn't change a whole lot for many years after! But since the turn of the century, it has changed big time and us dinosaurs should know that things never stay the same - never! But one shouldn't take change, for death, either. Rock is still with the world, it's just not your baby boomers' rock n roll anymore, but chances are it will still be around after the very last boomer dies, too. I hope so, anyway, since mankind needs rock n roll.
