Lot of things to be considered here manny if we're talking capital punishment...it's always seemed a bit of a contradiction, a paradox....so you've murdered someone and this carries the highest sentence because it's the worst thing you can possibly do i.e.take someone's life...so your sentence is, eh, we're going to take your life...but it's all legal you understand...What about innocent people we legally execute? It happens, loads of cases.
It's always seemed to me that apart from anything else, when you take a convicted killers life you many times take away the chance of relatives of unsolved murder cases getting closure, for want of a better term. Many murderers hold the key to solving other murders/crimes, execute them and you reduce the chances of getting a result.
