Iconic figures

I think the "luster" of some icons wears off. When I was a kid, everybody knew who Ann Margaret was. And Ginger and Mary Ann. I don't think many kids would recognize or know who Ann Margaret is/was. And I don't mean 6 year olds either. I'm talking about people my son's age (mid 30s). Some live forever. It's like that Kinks song, Celluloid Heroes, "you can see all the names as you walk down Hollywood Blvd, some that you know, some that you've never even heard of"...
