BnB/RSN/Kinks/CB and Fabs

vs.

We enter week 791 of our Stones poll and this week we ask this:Black N Blue vs The Rolling Stones, Now! , which album do you like the best? Week 4 of the black n blue polls and this week the 1976 release takes on this 1965 American studio release by the Stones, and a LP that has never been involved in our VS poll before.

The Rolling Stones, Now! was a very highly rated album for the band both when it first came out, and years later in 2003 when the once very important Rock magazine (and now rag) Rolling Stone placed it at #180 on its Top 500 list of all time albums. It’s the first of the ‘60’s LPs to go up against BnB in this VS poll.

To vote in this week’s Stones’ poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Stones poll we asked: Black N Blue vs Bridges To Babylon , which album do you like the best? Well, Black N Blue has finally won in our VS poll, and by a landslide, too. To find out by how much, just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 790– poll results. I’ll also add the results of this poll to the Stones VS Page.

At the Classic Rock Poll it’s week 433 and we’ll be running the usual 2 poll questions for the week. The first question asks this: Who was the most underrated member of The Kinks?

Now here’s an old long running band where really all of its members were somewhat underrated compared to how the other ‘60’s bands were looked at. Should be interesting to see if the votes this week are more spread out amongst band members than what we’ve been seeing so far in this somewhat new series of questions.

If you like, you can read up on the Kinks story at our site’s Bio page here.... To vote in this week’s first rock poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

Our VS Rock poll this week will ask:'Rock n Roll Music' (original by Chuck Berry) vs 'Rock n Roll Music' (cover by The Beatles), which version is best?. Written and recorded by Chuck Berry in 1957, this dandy of a song made it to #6 on the charts for hiim, and it’s one of the 2 songs fans think most of when they think of Chuck (“Johnny B. Goode” being the other). Yet when the Beatles recorded and released this song in 1964, their cover became just as well known thanks to John Lennon’s very powerful vocals. The Fabs didn’t release this as a single in the US or UK, but did in many other counties and it went to #1 wherever it was released.

Both versions are great, but you can only vote for one of ’em. Which will it be? To cast your vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: Who was the most underrated member of Pink Floyd? Keyboardist Richard Wright got the nod with 59.4%. To see the full, final results, just click on: Classic Rock Poll week 432. For now the top results from this poll will be listed at the Top Ten Lists, Page, 9 page, but as noted in the last few weeks, that page is getting too long and when I have the time, a new list page (11, not 10) will be built to show these results (and more).

In last week’s VS poll we asked this question : 'Eyesight to the Blind' (aka 'The Hawker', Tommy cover by The Who) vs 'Eyesight to the Blind' (Tommy Movie version by Eric Clapton), which version is best? The third and final week of asking a Tommy poll question and the Who were 1-1 up till this week. Would they end up with a winning record for their own record? Click on the following link to find out: Classic Rock VS Poll week 432. You can also check out the final results at a brand new VS results page at the Classic Rock site: VS Page 2, List Page 10.

We finish up this week’s poll post as we always do with the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 186, and a couple of years ago we asked a series of questions for the best song off of each of their UK studio albums. Now it’s time to ask for the least liked song per LP, so this week’s question is: What is your least favorite song on the Beatles LP Please Please Me .

We will go in the order of the Beatle album releases for these questions, and yes, this was their first release, back in 1963. When we asked for the favorite song off of this one, "I Saw Her Standing There" was chosen, so let’s see which one was least liked.

One thing I noticed with Beatle fans who vote at our domain for a few Beatle poll questions where we ask for a least favorite item from the Fabs, we see less voters take part; as I can see that it’s hard for fans to find anything not up to par with this band. But even if that applies to you, remember, the question is only asking for one least favorite song and not an unlinked song, so you can still like a song and vote for it, and I hope we will not see too much of a letup in votes for this series of questions.

To vote in this week’s Beatles poll, just click on: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: Which Beatles song features the best guest musician(s)? An interesting question now has an answer and it’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” with Eric Clapton playing Lead Guitar and taking 18.6% of the vote in a nice win, but not as much of a win as some might have expected. Billy Preston’s Electric Piano playing on “Get Back” took in another 13.3% of all votes, and then much further back at 7.7% was a 3 ways tie for third. To see what songs they were, along with the rest of the finishing order for this poll, click on: Beatle’s Weekly Poll – week 185. The top results from this poll will also show up on this page: Miscellaneous Beatles Lists .

Well, I don’t know about you, but I got one hell of a busy week ahead of me, so I hope it’s a great one not only for me, but for all of you Gassers, too. As always, thanks to all who take part in our polls!
