Syd lived up to his talent and praises on that first LP, no question, but after that - nothing!
You are forgetting the handful of singles that Syd sang, played on and often wrote: Arnold Layne, See Emily Play (covered by David Bowie), Apples and Oranges are the ones I know and love but there are a few more.
No doubt that Syd crashed and burned. I think the career-ending injury is a good analogy. He seemed fragile to begin with and too much LSD did the rest. But I think that the talent was there, and god only knows what would have been had he stayed healthy and productive.
Here's an unreleased song from Syd's Pink Floyd. Unfortunately the sound is pretty bad and Syd's vocals aren't really audible. Hope you enjoy it anyway.
