Confession of a Oreo junkie & former Hydrox junkie

(I remember Keno and I were in the HJydrox camp).

Yes and no, as I'm in both camps. I loved that old, lost cookie indeed, but I'm also addicted badly to Oreos, too. But I can only get by with double stuffed Oreos, and I am such a junkie that I must take 2 of the double stuffs cookies, take them apart, remove the 2 ends that have no cream on them, and them take the 2 parts that have the cream and place them together for a quadruple Oreo! Oh, what a great drug fix this is, anybody who hasn't gotten high on Oreos hasn't lived (and if they are eaten after smoking a joint, they can give one a deadly high indeed)! But my practice of putting together quadruple Oreos drives my grandson crazy (who like his granddad is also addicted to Oreos), since I always get to the Oreos first, and all that is left in the bag for him to eat after I'm done with them, is the dry, creamless wafers.

Sugar is a terrible addiction, no question, and I've been a sugar junkie since my early preteen years. But now that I've become a diabetic in the last year - thanks to sugar (nothing else could have caused this since I'm active and not overweight), I told the family last week that I was totally giving up eating Oreos. I usually bake my own junk food as it is (especially cookies, cakes and pies), but Oreos have been the exception, as I never tried to bake them myself..... I actually stopped eating Oreos once before, for a good 25 year period, back when I was around 20 or so. My kids were babies back then and we were broke and low on food, so I gave up buying most junk food, but then I got addicted once again in my older age as I started to be less poor and the kids grew up. Funny, my 2 grown daughters as adults eat very little junk food or most foods that contains sugar, they aren't sugar addicts at all since we didn't have crap food like Oreos around when they were young. But my poor grandson was exposed to Oreos thanks to my current addiction and now he will have to go cold turkey for Oreos just like me. I'll still homebake some cookies, but Oreos are now once again banned from our household!

Hydrox are no longer available, a tragic loss to the cookie community. But wait!!! I just had a Newman-O cookie

You only just had one? I tried them years ago when they first came out, and IMO, the don't hold a candle to Oreos or the old Hydroxs! Now Newman does put out a killer chocolate chip cookie that unfortunately is no longer sold around here. But I do bake my own chocolate chip cookies and can live with them just fine.
