The original cover was loud, outrageous, and eye catching. (Not unlike Mick Jagger.) Fun to look at as you spin the LP. The threatened lawsuits which made the celebrity women suddenly "disappear" on future copies of the album, took away a great deal of the artistry and the concept behind the album cover. The celebrity "girls" helped "make" the cover. I'm no fan of the substitution of bright colors where the celebrity faces had been. Would have been better to get lesser known women to "sign off" on having their faces on a Stones album.
What aspiring actress, or female Stones fan, would not want her face on a Stones album, Ronnie?
And yes, DA. We certainly agree the music on the album is something special!
Honorable mentions imo are the covers for Sticky, Let It Bleed, IORR, and Tattoo You. All those covers are great.
