I like your question Sway, but back in those days, it was albums like the Sticky Fingers cover that got all the talk, as that was what counted in those days, just as much as what was inside the LP. They were big deals back in the days of the big sized covers (cover art died big time when the small CD covers came about).
Going by what I recall, the Stones covers that made the biggest splash and were talked about the most were: Sticky Fingers, Satanic Majesties, It's Only R and R, Beggars Banquet (but not the white cover that ended up being released in '68, but the cover that wasn't), and there was a lot of talk about what came inside the EOMS LP (like the postcards, etc), but not so much what was on the cover.
The '60s and '70s Stones for the most part were known for their music inside the LP, and not for their album covers, except for the few noted above, especially SF, that cover was the talk of rock when it came out. For myself, IORR is my favorite cover, for other fans, we haven't asked that question at our polls yet since we are still going thru all of their official released covers one at a time and are still rating them, when we finish up with that question (more than likely in early '15), we will ask for the favorite cover. We did ask back in '05 about the best drawing on a Stones cover and IORR was picked, but that of course only covered some of their covers.
