We are only hearing about this stuff now because of the widespread social media that wasn't around in the not so distant past, or we would have heard about so many more of these incidents in sports.
Had it not been for that hotel tape surfacing, and Goodell lying that he didn't know about it beforehand when he did, and then giving him only a 2 game suspension when if he had been caught smoking weed (even in a state where it's legal) he would had gotten a 4 game suspension - that's why this is a big deal. The NFL has no clue on how they should dish out punishment and in turn they turn up with egg on their faces while fans who pay high ticket prices don't get to see certain stars play because maybe they smoked a joint, yet if they beat up on their old lady or their child, that's fine and okay to the assholes who run the NFL.
