RE: RE: RE: RE: The NFL and domestic violence nsc

Some interesting viewpoints. It's worth noting the percentage of domestic violence in the NFL is actually lower than that of males in the everyday world in their twenties and thirties. The same demographic regarding age.

I feel it is likely Adrian Peterson would have gone overboard and physically abused his sons through "whoopings", as he calls it, with or without a background in Football. And Hernandez became a murderous thug not because of football but because of the lifestyle he chose outside of football. He had a history of hanging out with thugs all the way back in College.

Peterson received over the top "whoopings" as a child himself. The dye was cast at that point in my opinion. He grew up thinking it was normal discipline of a child.

I'm not saying a sense of entitlement, or the violent nature of football was not in some way a minor factor in these cases. However I'm not convinced football is the root cause of these cases of domestic violence. There are far too many NFL players in the league who keep their hands to themselves to counter that belief.

Perhaps more disturbing than the domestic violence by four players in a league which has more than 1600 players, is the lack of leadership at the level of the owners and the NFL Commisioner. It looks like Goodell was told by Ray Rice that he hit his fiance in the elevator and the Ravens owner admits Rice was honest with him about the incident which took place in a Casino elevator. Yet Goodell, it appears, is going to some lengths to cover up the fact he knew the truth.

The Vikings owner was prepared to let Peterson play this Sunday until sponsors, the Minnesota Governor, and people everywhere voiced their disapproval. Yet some people find making two four year old boys bleed through physical "discipline" something other than abuse. They think it is good parenting. Some people are unbelievable. No four year old should ever be bleeding at the hands of a parent. And any parent who causes his four year old child to bleed is certainly not being a good parent at the time. A good parent does all he or she can to make sure their child never bleeds at the hands of any adult. Hopefully Peterson will truly understand this very soon.
