RE: Replies and my picks

DA - I'll add "No Reply" and give it one vote for your friend. My guess is it won't get too many more votes, it's one of those that starts off with John singing only, as you know, but as I noted, some of those great Beatle lyrics are so great they so make the opening of the song stand out.

Sway - Yes, JPJ was a session musician before Led Zep, in fact that was why he got into LZ later on. While doing session work with Jimmy Page on a Donovan song, he told Page that if he ever formed a new band, that he wanted to be in it with him. So when Page needed a bass player for the New Yardbirds tour (who became LZ), he asked him to join.

My poll picks:

Stones poll: IORR - by a mile. I never cared a lot for B&B, I guess it's okay, but it just isn't a true Stones sounding LP to me with the way they handled the guitar role, a real stupid way for a band to make a LP I always felt, even if some fans liked the idea. You need to use your own people on your own LP for the lead guitar parts!

Rock poll 1: JPJ all the way. Plant was put down for the way he sang by some, so I figure he's get some votes too, but as of now just by looking at the early votes, I think we already know who will be chosen from this band, and no question, JPJ was underrated in LZ!

VS poll: I went with Elton John's take although I'm more undecided on which one I like more. But since I'm sure the Who will win this one, I'll go with EJ's version for that reason, it was well done.

Fab poll: I haven't voted yet, but I'll go either with "Revolution" (fast version, with Lennon's wild acid guitar intro), "A Hard Day's Night" (with that simple guitar note by John), or perhaps "Ticket to Ride", again a great mellow guitar opening to that one too (by Paul if I recall correctly?). One of those 3 for sure! As far as lyrics only, then I would pick "Hey Jude", as Paul's vocal to start that one off has always got my attention big time.
