B&B vs IORR/Led Zep/Tommy song/Opening to Fab song

vs.

It’s time to get week 788 of our Stones poll underway and this week’s question is:Black N Blue vs It's Only Rock 'n Roll, which album do you like the best? It’s time to start up a new Stones album VS series of questions and we will go with a Stones LP that hasn’t yet been in any of these battles before, that being the 1976 release Black N Blue.

Not one of the most loved Stones albums, mainly because Keith Richards took a back seat on this album and let outsiders play lead guitar instead. This one was also Ron Wood’s first Stones album, but he only plays his guitar on 2 songs.

IORR of course came out right before B&B and was Mick Taylor’s last LP with the Stones. So which one do you dig more? To vote in this week’s Stones’ poll, just click on: Stones Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Stones poll we asked: 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' vs '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction', which Stones song do you like better? I was totally shocked with the landslide that occurred last week in this poll. I had a feeling the song that won in a landslide would win, but I was thinking the vote would be a lot closer.

So which song was picked? Just click on this link: Stones Weekly Poll - week 787– poll results to find out. I’ll also add this result to the Stones VS Page under “songs”.

Over at the Classic Rock Poll it’s week 430 and we’ll be running the usual 2 poll questions for the week. The first question askes this: Who was the most underrated member of Led Zeppelin? As noted last week when we started up this series of questions, most bands seem to have at least one underrated member. Zeppelin was a very highly rated group of 3 musicians along with a powerful singer, so who in this band will we go with? Time will tell.

To vote in this week’s first rock poll list, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

Our VS Rock poll this week will ask this:'Pinball Wizard' (Original by the Who) vs 'Pinball Wizard' (Movie version by Elton John), which version is best?. This song was written by Pete Townshend in 1969 for the rock opera Tommy and it went all the way to #4 in the UK charts and No. 19 in the U.S. In 1975 Elton John was hired to play the pinball wizard in the movie being made for the opera and he recorded the song for that. His cover went to #7 on the UK charts, making it the only cover of a Who song to reach the top 10. Extra lyrics were written by Townshend for John's movie take of the song. Elton did use his own band to record this song, whereas the rest of the performers who were in the movie used the Who to back them. If you should watch the YouTube video in the voting booth to check out the song, this comes from the movie which makes it appear the Who back Elton on this song, just don’t be fooled (again) by this clip, they didn’t, and remember, when watching any video, don ‘t judge that video for your vote, only judge the music being played.

To cast your vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll, and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Rock poll we asked: Who was the most underrated member of The Who? Well I got to disagree with the choice picked, that being John Entwistle. How can the guy called the best rock bassist ever, been underrated?

To see the full, final results in the voting, just click on: Classic Rock Poll week 429. For now the top results from this poll will be listed at the Top Ten Lists, Page, 9 page, but that page is getting too long and when I have the time, a new list page (10) will be built to show these results (and more).

In last week’s VS poll we asked this question : 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' (by The Supremes) vs 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' (by The Vanilla Fudge), which cover version of this song is best? Once again, just like the week before, a very very close final result from this poll. To see which song came out on top, click on the following link: Classic Rock VS Poll week 429. You can also check out the final results at the Classic Rock’s site’s VS page.

Now to the Beatles’ poll, where it’s week 183, and we will ask this: What Beatles song has the best opening to it? In a few weeks we will be asking this question at the rock poll, but this week we will ask it just for the Beatles so we will not only learn what that song is for the Fabs, but the top songs picked here will be listed at the Rock poll for the Beatles when we ask the question there (as will the top songs picked by Stones fans for when we asked this question at the Stones poll a few years ago).

Now for the most part, when you think of a great opening to any song, you think of songs with a great guitar riff, or maybe there was a great piano to start the song, and there will be songs listed for this poll just like that. But for the Beatles, since they were such get singers and songwriters, several of the songs you will see simply start out with nothing but them singing the song’s lyrics.

To vote in this poll for your favorite Fab song opening, just click on: Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatle poll we asked: ‘Who was the most underrated member of The Beatles? Well I may not have agreed with who we picked for the Who with this same question, but I do agree with George Harrison being picked by fans for the Beatles.

To see the final results to this poll, click on: Beatle’s Weekly Poll – week 182. The top results from this poll will also show up on this page: Beatles Miscellaneous List Page , and in time on the new list page I’m making up for the most underrated member of each rock band that we vote on, over at the Classic Rock site.

Regardless of which poll(s) you vote in, be it only one - or all four each week, I thank you for taking a part in the voting process!
