I moved to NYC recently for a great illustration/animation job, so I've been AWOL for a good while - missed y'all and the board (my bad, Nifty).
At work, I listen to Spotify due to convenience, since I don't have to have ALL my music on one device. This resulted in me adding the Stones Singles collection to my general playlist... and wow, are there a lot of remixes/alternate edits.
Most are shitty dance mixes, but I can easily recommend a few that are musts for the devoted:
Out of Control - Saber Final Mix: Out of Control always seemed way too overproduced. The idea for the song seemed solid, but it was so buried by layers of pointless polish that it had zero soul. Listening to this mix, it all really comes together, and you get this really damn stellar blues funk track with killer harmonica playing by Mick and a sick rhythm. This is the definitive version of this song, in my opinion. The original track often gets skipped by me, but I genuinely love this version.
Don't Stop - New Rock Mix: The official release always seemed like it was missing teeth. This version punches up the rhythm, and it hits just right. Again, has what the original was missing.
Miss You - 12" version: More of a awesome song. You all know about this, but it's always worth mentioning.
