RE: RE: YCAGWYW, and other songs

Aren't you thinking of "Have You Seen Your Mother"? That was recorded around the time when Brian's hand was in a cast. I think that's the song they wanted to play live on Ed Sullivan but they had to settle for miming to the record when Brian's hand wasn't sufficiently healed.

No, and you're getting your songs mixed up now. First, his hand was still messed up when they recorded YCAGWYW in November 1968 as it was in 1967 for when they played on Sullivan, but his hand was taken out of the cast a few days before they played on the show (see LJ on ES: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XirG-qwMCMc), and it had not healed properly yet at the time. The songs they played that day was "Paint it Black" and "Lady Jane", and if you look closely, you can see that his hand isn't in a cast but is bandaged up, and he and the band still played live although the studio recording for the music was played over what they are playing. So they actually did play live, but you can't hear the live music. when they played. On "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby", played on the next Sullivan visit, BJ played guitar and had no cast or bandage on his hand. Because his hand never healed right the first time, he was still having problems with it a year later, and had the hand reset in late 1968 and it was placed back in another cast, although I'm not sure exactly what was done to his hand that second time. His hand came out of the second cast 2 weeks before the Stones did the Rock and Roll Circus in December '68 and he did play guitar live for YCAGWYW at that show.

If PWF and all those songs are Stones songs (and they are, since they were all released on official Stones albums), then a case can be made for that god-awful version of "Out Of Time" which Mick is on with a bunch of studio musicians who should have found something more useful to do. And for all those mediocre ALO songs that can be found on side 1 of the "Metamorphosis" LP.

I would disagree, although you're right, officially those terrible remakes with just MJ on them are official Stones songs because their old record company officially released them. But the Stones had nothing to do with that, they didn't want those songs released, so in that case they shouldn't be looked at as Stones songs.
