Thank you Sway, your far too kind. I feel for you as a teacher in this current state of affairs. I just think a more commonsense appraoach is needed. Political correctness has run amuck and most folks are on eggshells in fear of saying the wrong thing. This generation or two seem so ill equipped in how to make it on their own. They can't tolerate the word "no", cannot handle adversity. A foster child of mine took a friends knife to school last year. Soon as I arrived the rote pc response: The teacher must say mind you: "your son made a bad choice but we know what a wonderful child he really is" blah blah blah. All the meanwhile the child is smirking & wanting to stick his finger down his throat, as if to say "really teacher". My consequence; no electronics for 45 days. DCF response after the child complained 3 days into it. "You need to give him his stuff back, as he is bored & we don't endorse punishment". Are you kidding me? "good he is bored"! I had to acquiescee. This is just one small example & is rampant. Overcoddled, overappeased youth, "me me me me", "whatever", lack of respect for authority & have their way. But the real world isn't so easy and when they enter the real world they are failing. If you stay on facebook 12 hrs continous a day or play video games round the clock, no matter your age, you just ain't gonna be successful. Everyone discriminates a pinup barbie doll model of a gal has an easier time of the world. If the lesser attractive gal treats the man nicer & he chooses the bombshell he just discriminated. Girls generally prefer taller type men. Is that fair to shorter men? I'm all for gay lesbian transexual equal marriage, equal the playing field etc, but some of this pc stuff is simply rubbish. I could go on for far too long, but to be a zealot of the left or the right again your discriminating. The lefty walks into the home & sees one reading Bill O reily or Rush Limbaugh the eyes roll, judgements start. Discriminating! & vice versa. I sit right in the middle myself and I am inundated in my life 24/7 with liberal doctrine in my social service job licensing & inspecting group homes. "Be sure to tell them some good things before you tell them the citations" blah. DCF enabling kids, undermining discipline & they fail in the real world but the caseworker had no confrontations or headaches! but I am left doing damage control & this racism racism racism. I dated a black girl 20 years ago and you know who was the most racist towards us? Take a guess black men seeing us together. With pc being shoved down people's throats, I find there are more racists just "undercover", as the Stones would say, who prior were fair minded prior non-racist acquantences. It's below the surface because people are more resentlful of endless entitlement, protected classes, validating everyones feelings etc because it's all too much. I said what I believe the black community needs to do. Stop playing the victim role. How can it hurt try a different approach. This "great society" ticket hasn't worked & it never will. Any success takes hard work, diligence, self-disipline etc & then at the end of the day party your asses off! Kids crave discipline these days because they rarely experience it! they tell me all the time. In my house it's "this for that" "my kids need to earn". Lover, child friend whomever. You get back what you give. When things are earned they are appreciated more than handouts and gaming 16 hrs daily. I have just been frustrated by the pc police, Sway said it best old virtues have been lost what seemed right is now often wrong, the middle class gets squeezed endlessly and made to feel guilty, to give more taxes to liberal programs that have little to no outcome gain. Govt is a neccessary evil at best, it's coffers are a sieve, 35% right doen the toilet in overhead, red tape & buerocracy (just not this buerocrat lol). Of course there should be a safety net, but govt owes one little to nothing self defense, deliver the mail, and some other things but not to the degree it has become, in my humble opinion. Dylan said it "propaganda, all is phony" donch buy into this nonsense. Peace! We need to speak up. You disagree bring it on. I'm a big boy. If you beg to differ just debate logical facts and stats not "oh your a racist" and thus everything is dismissed. It's soo easy to be that way. MEZ
