RE: RE: RE: TODAY IN HISTORY: RINGO

I don't think Ringo has gotten all the credit he deserves. His playing helped to define The Beatles sound. Every great Beatles recording (well, a very few like "Yesterday" do not) features his no-nonsense 4/4 rhythm with just the right amount of swing. Ringo was perfect for the Beatles in the manner that Charlie was for the Stones. Part of the overall magic that can't be completely described in words alone but is best heard and appreciated for what it is. And unlike a number of his contemporaries, he's never displayed a big ego, and has been quite modest regarding his successes. His post-Beatles excursions with Ringo's All-Star Band(s) is on a par with Bill's Rhythm Kings. Despite their past affiliation as part of rock "royalty", there's still enjoyment to be found amongst great musicians from a memorable era in music coming together for a bit of fun and good times.
