I've always regarded McCartney as being the 'musician' of the band, but on balance I think I prefer Lennon's stuff or of the joint stuff, the stuff that was more Lennon, if you know what I mean.

I have read that McCartney gets a bit narked at the assumption people tend to make that it was Lennon who was initially responsible for bringing the experimental stuff to the attention of the Beatles, when in actual fact it was him, McCartney.
