RE: Several replies in one/my picks

Wondering why You offered the remakes of Pete Townsends works instead of the originals Keno?

Sorry, but I don't follow your question?? Both the movies and plays made is still his work, and you can't count the original album (if that's what you mean), since all of their albums are music albums. Overall we are only talking musical plays, and in a few cases, musical movies, that were made with rock music.

Do you recall when the LP came out it had a big Kalistounge with the songs listed that covered the artwork?

Yes, and I meant to note that but guess I forgot. But the tongue was removable and only a sticker and not officially a part of the album cover.

While I love most of the songs on the album, can anyone tell me why many songs on the Stones Greatest Hits albums are edited and shortened?

Who knows for sure, but we have noted this here with disgust in the past. I think for most fans, if you reissue a old LP with the original work plus added earlier versions of those same songs - fans dig that a lot. But put out a greatest hits LP and edit the song just for that album is flat out stupid, and I don't know any fans who like that. Remember when they had the balls to reissue SFTD in 4 different edits a few years back? The stupidest and worst thing they ever did to any of their songs and they go and do it to their top masterpiece!! Yuck!

Here are my picks:

Stones poll: A big fat 1, and perhaps I was too generous, the more I think of this terrible cover, I think I should had given it a zero. I mean, talk about putting no effort into your new album's cover! Perhaps the only cover of theirs that was worst was the US cover for Jump Back.

Rock poll: The Rocky Horror Show by a mile. It's the only musical that I loved, but I never saw the play, so I should add in the word "Picture" to the title between "Horror" and "Show", since the movie was titled in that way. There were a few other musicals listed that I liked too, but only a few. Heck, I even dug the Beatles YS movie, but I recall falling asleep in the movie theater when watching the Who's Tommy. I just don't dig musicals overall, and from the early low vote count I'm seeing so far, I see that I'm not alone. Yet I always say vote anyway, you would think in this case that you could find one musical you like a bit out of the 53 I listed.

VS poll: The electric version, but I love both versions overall and I'm blown away that a couple of you dislike this great song. It was NY's last great release, IMO.

Fabs poll: "A Day in the Life", with 'Hey Jude" a close second and "Helter Skelter" a close third, and "Back in the USSR" a close 4th! Really, when it comes to our several different Ongoing polls, this is the only one I have a hard time believing. But how can you be a fan of the Beatles and not dig these great songs?!? Yeah, I do know several fans who hated the second half of HJ, yet I felt that second half helped to made the song great. The 'na na na na na na na...." vocals were as good as the Stones 'who-who, wow wow" on SFTD, Ronnie!
