Strange But True Stories? NSC

I read a book by that title when I was in grade school. One of those paperbacks you ordered off a sheet full of book selections your teacher handed out to the class so you would read on your own. That book made an impression on me. Most of the stories were fascinating to a young reader.

I recall one story in the book was about a man who was hung to death for murder in the 1800s up in New England. He swore he was innocent and stated before his hanging, no grass would ever grow on his grave to prove his innocence. Supposedly they tried everything to get grass to grow on his grave for years after he was buried, but no grass would ever grow on his grave. Proof of his innocence?

I've heard stories, word of mouth, of such things as relatives "knowing" something was wrong with a loved one even though they were far away. And they learned later at that exact moment they had that bad "feeling" - the loved one had died in an accident.

A friend of mine claims he awoke in his bed while he was still a child and a pretty woman was hovering over his bed smiling down at him. He freaked out. Jumped out of bed and ran to his mother's bedroom screaming and crying. His stepfather made him go back to bed and my friend never did get any sleep that night for fear of the "ghost woman". Later he was looking at some old family photos and saw the "ghost woman" in a photo. The woman was his grandmother who had died before he was even born. The photo was of her as a young woman.

I've read many stories of near death experiences. I was telling my father about it about ten years ago. My dad is very much a skeptic about most everything. So I was surprised when he didn't blow it all off as lies or something. Instead he told me a story of what his brother in law had told him once. His brother in law, Jim, had had a heart attack. He told my father he left his body and started rising into the sky. Jim could see his own body on the floor before he rose too far. But he kept rising and left the planet for awhile. Floating upward peacefully. Eventually he was back in his body and in considerable pain. This was a quiet, honest man who told that story to my Dad.

I have found that most everybody has stories to tell similar in nature if the topic is brought up. Either that person has experienced something they cannot explain or they know a trusted friend or relative who has relayed such a story.

If you have such a story please share it here. You're among friends.
