I remember it well DA I had just left school, and was working in an iron works. I was on my way to work, and saw the headline 'Brian Jones Dead', on a small hoarding outside a newsagent. As well as being shocked,like crownandwater, I wondered what it would mean for the Stones. I knew Jones wasn't in the band at that point, but the whole nature of their relationship with Jones, and their status as a band even, was pretty unclear at that point.
Of course they went on to become the 'greatest rock'n'roll band in the world'. I went on to a whole series of dead end jobs, and shattered dreams. I did make it into space though.
