Thanks for sharing. No doubt you had a blast! Then natty mom comes dancing in from the past. Had to be a surreal moment. Her asking you about "H" does, unfortuantely, say alot about her. You were a kind soul to hand her a joint, and a wise soul not to let her spoil your fun.
Unfortunately some women and men are just not equipped, or meant, to be parents. It can be tough on their children. My oldest daughter, 25, has had to deal with a mother who is also very self centered, immature, and anything but nurturing and maternal. Because I love my daughter I have suffered through it too, watching my daughter suffer over the years.
I hope I am not out of line, by reminding you, as I remind my daughter, it is not you, and it is not personal, though sometimes it sure feels personal. The problem and the issue is entirely ALL on the mom. Never forget that. Never let it even scratch the surface of your own sterling, healthy self esteem. Have no expectations of your mom and her behavior, and you will be so much happier. You are worthy of love. The fact she doesn't get that, and/or is ill equipped to deliver it, is a SHE problem. Try to forgive her for not being equipped to supply it. The forgiveness will set you free.
Meanwhile, love yourself, be your own best friend, and be the woman you want to be.
