What did you plant?
I planted the usual, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, cucumbers, and lettuce.
Plus of course, this morning there were a couple of deer in front of the house, which shouldn't be, as they usually leave like clockwork, they usually don't stay later than June 5 or so. But I got a 7 foot chicken wire fence surrounding the garden, and that also seems to keep them at bay, as once in a blue moon you do see a deer here even in the summer months. We are lucky the 3 months a year they leave in is in the summer (ie growing season). The rest of the year on most days you will see about 10 to 12 deer at a time on you land, and it would be a much bigger challenge keeping them out of the gardens (but you don't have a garden in those months). Folks who live over 9000 feet around here do have that problem even in the summer, they have to put up with deer year round, since that is the elevation deer like to hang out at in the summer. Plus living around 9000 feet is hard to grow most veggies anyway, as they see cooler temps, so you can forget about growing some veggies like tomatoes, squash, cucumbers that high up. Living just 1000 feet lower does make a big difference to your garden around here!
