My daughter and former Gasser, Jackie, was critically injured Wednesday afternoon, and although she is out of danger now, her life will be changed forever I guess. So I ask all of my friends here (and her's too) to please send your good thoughts and feelings her way, she needs it, and I always believed that sending positive energy to somebody who is hurting, does work.
My poor daughter is accident prone, no question. If you don't wish to read what happened to her, as the details are gory, then do stop reading here.... As some of you know, she has been fighting blood cancer for over 2 years now, and so far she is winning that battle. But on Monday she was placed on some new meds, which in turn caused a seizure on Wednesday, and she fell face first into this glass panel sitting on the garage floor, which amongst other things cut off a piece of her nose, ripped open her lip, and the worst part, cut open her left eye. She also lost a lot of blood, and was rushed to the hospital, and was in surgery for almost 6 hours. They had to stitch up her lip, reattach a part of her nose, and stitch her eye back together. Yeah, can you imagine, having stitches in your eye? Anyway, we will know in the next few days if her eye will be saved. So far the surgery performed is holding it together. But then the question is, if it is saved, will she see out of that eye again? Since the back of the eye wasn't damaged and only the front was, the doctor told her some of her vision could come back - if she doesn't lose the eye. But for now she is blind in the eye, plus the doctor said cataracts will form over the eye when/if it heals (which would also blind her), so she will need more surgery for that. She will also end up with a bunch of scares over her face, chin, and nose, once she heals, too.
My poor kid, and I haven't been able to think straight since this happen to her. Today she did seem to be in good spirits, but still in a lot of pain, too. It amazes me how she is that way, always thinking positive, and that alone got me to feeling better today. Yet when she said to me "dad don't worry, I'm fine", it brought tears to my eyes, since I know she isn't okay right now. But at least her mind is.
So please do think positive for my girl, and hope the best for her! Thanks.
