the problem with the Stones is that a ton of their output from the 60's and 70's is "Pantheon" worthy and can often just run away with polls
Yes, and that's a problem with the Classic Rock Poll thanks to my very busy Stones site (and Gasx3, too) - and now that is happening with Beatles songs thanks to my Lennon site - actually thanks to the Beatles lyrics page I have, which now brings in double the page views than my very busy Stones lyrics page. Of course I still want everybody voting no matter what band they love, but we got to realize no matter how tempting it is to vote for a favorite song from a favorite band, when doing this we learn nothing from the poll question, and in turn it would make running any polls a waste of time and of data space. So this is why I always mention not to vote for your favorite band in a poll unless it is truly the song that covers the subject matter best (and sometimes it is). Plus I should note that compared to a few years back, we voters are overcoming that problem, as again, 2 of the polls last week showed that to be a fact. Plus the truth of the matter is, after giving it a lot of thought in the last day, I feel MM should be in the top 5 anyway, even if no Stones fans were voting in this poll, although the main subject matter of the song is about missing a loved one, and not about doing coke.
