I'm surprised Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash isn't on the list.
That's a great song, and it's not the same 1920s "Cocaine Blues" song that Keith and Dylan sing (while the song titled as just "Cocaine" by Jackson Browne, is). I was gonna list it at first but decided Cash was really country and this is only looking at rock songs, but hell, Cash is in the Rock Hall and he always did cross that line into rock music, so yes, you just got me to change my mind on this, I'll add it in now.
I didn't vote in the Stones poll because I don't have a horse running in that race. Since I'm not going, I have no opinion about a B stage.
I'm not going either, but I sure as shit have an opinion on this. You don't have to be going to the show to have a say, this poll is for everybody, not just those who will attend this new tour. If you went to any of the other tours that have a B stage, you should have a good idea on if you dug that B stage or not. Even if you never went to any of the shows with a B stage you should still have feelings on this.
I'm strongly tempted to vote for Eric Clapton's version of "Cocaine" but I think I should check at least some of the songs I don't know first.
I would say to you and anybody who is thinking of voting for the EC cover of this song to first listen to the original JJ Cale version. It is up on YouTube and I believe anybody who doesn't know that version - and then hears it would vote for it over the EC cover for one reason - EC's cover sounds almost exactly like the original take, and IMO, I feel you got to go with the first take in that case, since it's the original and wasn't improved on when the cover was made. Plus with Cale's version you can actually make out him singing "she don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie, cocaine", whereas with EC everybody thinks the lyric is "She don't like... cocaine" because of how he sings it.
Speaking of "Cocaine", here's a version of the song you may not have heard before.
Thanks DA, but what is the song's actual name? I'd like to hear it, but I don't download such files from the internet, so I would like to look it up on YouTube.
