From what I recall about Jim Morrison's grave, his body is no longer buried there, it was moved years ago, but the headstone remains and the fans still come.
I know the family wanted to bring him home but I don't know if they ever did. Admiral Morrison passed some time ago. He and Jim never got along (understatement of the year). I find it hard to believe that the authorities at Père Lachaise would agree to keep the headstone for the fans; they get an awful lot of complaints from families with loved ones buried not far from where Jim is/was, whose headstones regularly get covered in graffiti. I would be upset too!
Jim wouldn't be the only rock star whose body was moved while the monument was left in place. Ronnie Van Zant's body and Steve Gaines' ashes were moved to undisclosed locations years ago, after morons desecrated the graves. When Leon Wilkeson died, the family had a monument erected in one place and the body buried in another, to prevent this from happening to him as well.
Morons are not an endangered species, Ronnie!
