Tour prices/Drug songs/Fab vocals

It’s time for week 718 of our Stones poll and again we will go with another tour question this week (why not?). So this week’s question is: Do you think the prices being charged for the Stones new tour are fair to fans? Notice that this question isn’t asking if the prices are too high, since we all know already that they are. But are they still fair? After all, this is the Stones, solid rock ‘n roll legends who everybody wants to see. But I guess that after all of these years, most people who love them or love classic rock music has seen them already, so, should they still sell tickets at prices higher than any other act out there?

To vote on how you feel about this, just click here: Stones Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Stones tour poll, we asked: Do you plan to attend any of the Stones upcoming shows? Another poll question that didn’t say anything about the high ticket prices, but in the poll’s choices, there was one choice in regard to high ticket prices, and that one - ” No, I want to go but I can't afford the tickets” was, in a landslide, the top pick, with 39% of the votes, out of six choices altogether. Sad, but altogether more than 65% of us fans will not be going to see the Stones on this tour this time around.

You can check out the full, final results from this poll by clicking here: Stones Weekly Poll – week 717 – poll results.

Now let’s move over to the Classic Rock Weekly Poll, where it’s week 360, and for the poll’s first question we will continue with the series of questions about drug songs. This week we ask: What is the best rock song about heroin? Perhaps the one drug everybody should stay away from, yet so many of the greatest rockers could not resist a taste. In turn they wrote a good number of songs about H, both pro and con.

Just remember, we are looking for the best song about the drug, or about a junkie, etc., we are not asking for your favorite song listed.

As usual, I suggest you go to YouTube to hear any songs on the list you don’t know, you just might find a song that will change your vote, or at the least, you might find an old but new song to you that you just might dig a lot.

To vote in this week’s H song poll, just click here: Classic Rock Poll. When you get to this page, choose “Poll 1” to vote on this question.

This week's second Rock Poll question is the usual “VS” poll series of questions: ”The Letter” (by Joe Cocker) vs “The Letter” (by The Box Tops), which version is better? Written by a guy (Wayne Thompson) who was a country and western musician and song writer. But then along came a new rock group (The Box Tops) who took the song and turned it into a rock number, and had a number 1 hit with it in 1967. Then 3 years later rock lighting stuck again for this song, when Leon Russell put together the Mad Dogs and Englishman shows with Joe Cocker on lead vocals, and a live wild take of “The Letter” made it into the top 10 US rock singles chart.

So which rock version of this tune do you feel is better? To vote in this week’s VS poll, click on Classic Rock Poll and when you get to this page, choose “Poll 2” to vote on this question.

In last week’s first Classic Rock Poll, the question was: What is the best song about marijuana? Now that was one fun poll, wasn’t it? So many of those songs you never hear on the radio (gee, why?). So did you go check them out online like I did? Hearing a bunch of them again after such a long time was excellent!

This poll was real close in the final picks, all the way down to the bottom of the list. The top 3 weed songs chosen were: “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” - Bob Dylan (7.9%), “Don't Bogart That Joint” - Fraternity of Man (7.3%), and “A Day In The Life” - The Beatles (7.1%).

To see the full final results from this weed poll, click on: Classic Rock Poll week 359 – Poll 1. The Top 10 results from this poll will show up at the Top Ten lists, page 7, where there are all other kinds of top 10 fan lists to check out, too.

In last week’s second Rock poll we asked: “All Along the Watchtower” (by Bob Dylan) vs “All Along the Watchtower “(by Jimi Hendrix), which version is better? For the second week in a row, a landslide result in our VS poll! To see which version of “All Along the Watchtower” was chosen, click here: Classic Rock Poll week 359 – Poll 2. The final results from our entire VS poll questions can be check out at this list page: VS lists, page 8.

Okay, now to the Beatles weekly poll, where it’s week 113, and the question is: Of the Beatles songs we chose as having the best vocals per category, which one overall has the best vocals? This question has us looking at the top picks from all the polls we ran in the last several weeks about best Beatle vocals, and now we will vote from those top song picks for the best of the bunch.

I didn’t realize until Saturday afternoon when I put this poll together just how much John Lennon’s singing totally dominated in the voting. Of the 19 songs that made the list, John sang lead on 16 of them!

To vote in this week’s Fab poll, click on the following link Beatles Weekly Poll.

In last week’s Beatles poll, we asked: Which Beatles song which features all 4 Beatles on vocals, has the best vocals? Since there were only 13 such songs to pick from, only the top pick from this list will made it into this week’s poll choices. That song/pick is: “All You Need Is Love - Main vocals by John, with many other guests” with 24.1% of the vote.

Thanks for taking the time to read about this week’s polls, and since you took the time, why don’t you go vote in them now? And to those of you who always do vote – thanks for taking part!
