Christina Amphlett is a good choice - I'd forgotten about her. I saw the DiVinyls open a show for the Psychedelic Furs back in the day (mid 80s) and was completely in love/lust with her for weeks afterward.

As for Front MEN, I've gotta go with Iggy Pop.

Another dude who is a great front man (as opposed to lead singer) is Glen Prevost of the late lamented Chesterfield Kings. He is completely INSANE onstage (and off - when I saw them at Philly's TLA he climbed up the curtains into the balcony during one song - and he did NOT have a cordless mike! I would highly recommend their 1994 release "Let's Go Get Stoned" for any Stones fan.
