I never had the chance to see The Doors live, so I go by the video material that we have today. And of course, Jim's on top of his game in all those vids. But obviously you're right about the fact that he often showed up drunk on stage Keno. His biography is full of such incidents and I have a vinyl bootleg (the first real bootleg I ever got) which includes what certainly is his most famous drunken rant.
But I go by his good nights, because they're all I've seen. Same with RVZ and Skynyrd, another band that had its ample share of f*ck-ups on stage due to drunkenness and fighting. Witness this concert where they had to scramble to compensate for Billy Powell's absence. Billy'd been in a fight the night before and had injured his hand.
I'm sorry I stole your poll idea Keno. And people are welcome to say how much they like Mick as a frontman. This is a Stones board after all. I just figured we all think he's great, so that when people don't mention him, it's simply taken for granted.
