I should clarify that I'm not saying favorites should be turned into almost new compositions. However, if you see the Rolling Stones live, the songs seem to just come alive, and often can be far better than the studio recordings. They play the original song, but they play fast, hard, and loose. Even Jagger enunciates differently, or adds a growl or something that makes the performances really memorable. It's why us Stones fans are so eager for live boots!
But then, when a song is performed live so that each solo and every piece is pretty much in place with the recording, it's for me more like seeing something in a museum. It's a little morbid, and maybe more so considering half of the Beatles are dead. Maybe he has a live album where he makes those songs really come alive, but I haven't heard it.
However, I recognize that objectively, a lot of people really love to hear/see him live, and I wish I had the same experience they had.
