I'd rather just listen to the original recordings with the band. I mean, his live versions aim to be so similar to the originals that I don't even really see the point.
I totally do! Some of us fans don't want to hear it played live in any other way. I've always been that way when it comes to singing a song. For a lead guitarist I don't mind if they extend on a lead of course while playing live, but I want the singer to sing the damn song the way I'm used to hearing on the record. That's why I'm going to pay top $$$ to see him or her sing the song live, to experience that, not some other style of singing of which I don't wish to hear sung.
With all of that said, I got to see Paul's first solo tour back in '75??? (or was it in '74 or 76?) while I still lived in NY. Had seats in the fourth row on the floor, and it was one of the best concerts I ever saw! What a great show he put on that nite!
