Yes, I love "While my guitar gently weeps" and who ever plays slide guitar
There isn't any real slide on this song, it's Eric Clapton playing the lead there on a Les Paul guitar, using finger vibrato to get that sound. George played rhythm acoustic guitar on the song, along with John's electric rhythm, with Paul on 6-string bass and keys. Years later when playing the song live, George would play it using a slide.
Don't know if you ever saw the Concert for Bangladesh but you can see George and Eric (and a bunch of other famous musicians) playing together on the song. Eric hated how he sounded on that one since he claimed he used the wrong guitar that nite, but you can see how he play his lead on the song regardless. Here is the link: WMGGW - Live
George in time became one of Rock's best slide players, but at the time of the song's recording, he was just learning how to play slide, and he played very little slide on any of the Beatles songs. He got into playing slide big time right after the band broke up.
