I remember that Ronnie said he had a "bit of emphysema" too. It made me assume that he quit, but who knows?
Nope, at the time he said he was now smoking "natural" cigarettes, but he was still smoking. By that I assume he means herbal cigarettes, which as far as having emphysema goes would be just as bad for him. Any kind of smoke at all in his lungs, including weed, would not be a smart thing for him to do. At least with weed he wouldn't have to smoke it, so he could still use that without smoking and not harm his lungs any more.
.... I suppose though if it's minor, it's treatable, especially if Ronnie quits smoking once and for all.
It is treatable to a point, but it's also a irreversible degenerative condition. He more than likely has it in the form of COPD, from what he said, but if he has it, he needs to stop smoking, because lung cancer is the next thing to worry about. My Sue had COPD first, then 3 years later they found a spot on her lungs, which killed her in 6 years time, and she did quit smoking when she was told she had COPD.
When did MJ quit?... He was way ahead of his time by quitting in the 60s (or maybe later), when virtually everyone smoked back then.
The smart people quit in the '60s, I recall that was when my dad quit smoking, and he lived to be 87. Mick was told if he didn't stop smoking, it might ruin his singing voice, and that was what got him to stop. If I recall, it was around 1970 or so for him.
