I have an outtake of this song where they added a lot of actual dogs barking, and the "human" barking is in the early part of the song.
Never heard that, interesting. The only real dog barking, really howling, you hear first in the song, and that part was added in at one of the last sessions for it on another date, although most of the song was recorded in the first sessions. John had noted that they didn't even plan to record the song that night, they were suppose to film part of the video for "Lady Madonna" that nite in the studio and they had extra time, so Paul suggested they record a song too. So they did "Hey Bulldog", a song which John had just wrote, but you can tell in the video for it, that he didn't even really remember all the lyrics he wrote at that point, as he and Paul are seen reading from the paper John wrote the lyrics on!
The video of this song is a favorite of mine because it shows the early takes of the song being made, and all 4 of them working together, you can see the good time John and Paul are having as they record it. You see the first three takes of the song in the video (all put together as one), the barking by Paul isn't shown (yet most of the rest of the song is), just a bit of barking by John is. However, some of the talking at the very end is shown, as you can see John and Paul talking to each other, with Paul approving of John's added barking at the end. From what Paul says, it appears his barking seconds before, just wasn't shown. Here is a link to that cool video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=0WBelmO65J4
I have no idea whether it was recorded before or after the take that eventually made the album.
Had to be after.
I also have a couple of incomplete very early takes in which John and Paul are working on how to sing a specific part and these are titled "She Can Talk to Me" and that's what you can hear them sing very distinctly.
Wow, would love to hear that! You can see them sing "you can talk to me" on that first night. They must had known they had a cool song on their hands once they started to work on it, and they must had been trying to inprove it a bit in later takes. Yet most of what they recorded on the first nite is what was left in the final cut of the song. Had it not been for the video to "Lady Madonna", nothing would had been recorded that night!
Yellow Submarine album: "The most disliked.... really, the only disliked Beatles LP noted by many of their fans." Can it even be called a Beatles album?....
Not really, it's a lot like the US version of the A Hard Day's Night LP, where several songs are not the Fabs. I know the Beatles hated the fact the US label was allowed to do that with AHDN, Paul flat out called it rubbish and noted that it was not what they wanted to release.
Side 2 is all non-Beates music from the movie. Side 1 has six songs, two of which had been previously released...
Yes, that's why the fans didn't like it, only 4 new songs from them. Again, it had nothing to do with the Beatles, they didn't have the control over their records even at that point.
