Okay Gassers - its time to seriously think about doing THE biggest and best Stones fan gathering of all - the Shidoobee Weekend at Wildwood on Labor Day Weekend. Here is the lowdown:
1. It officially runs (surprise!) from Friday thru Labor Day at the Beach Terrace Inn at Wildwood NJ. However, more than a few of show up on Thursday to settle in, relax and enjoy each others company before the bulk of the crowd shows up on Friday. If you are a newbie, it is particularly recommended to show on Thursday, as you get to meet, and get to know a few of us prior to the Main Event. Also, by traveling Thursday, you might get a better deal on your fare, and if driving, much lighter traffic.
2. The Beach Terrace Inn is the hotel where we stay. It, quite frankly is NOT a four star hotel...but is comfortable, the owners are HUGE Stones fans, and also quite frankly, not much sleeping gets done anyways! :p
3. There will be three excellent tribute bands playing during the weekend - one each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is pretty much guaranteed the Glimmer Twins will play Saturday. The other bands are TBA, but rest assured, they will be good ones.
4. Wildwood itself is a great place - it has a nice HUGE boardwalk that is clean, and has very little of the Jersey Shore rabble. The beach is pristine, and real great to sleep on during the day :P
5. This is VERY important - If you are thinking of going, it is very important to the Shidoobee board>, sign up, so you can keep abreast of all the details and happenings. Its a great group, and they are always welcoming of new friends. The Beach Terrace offers us Shidobees a GREAT deal on rooms, and they are very liberal on room sharing. HOWEVER, they only offer the Shidoobee rate for a limited time, so they know what space they have for 'regular' guests. So do go to the Shidoobee board, sign up, and this way you won't miss out!
Outside of a concert, it is definitely THE best Stones time you will ever have! And you will meet a hundred new friends you never realized you had...
