There is no defining criteria or general concensus of what qualifications that the various acts should have in order to get into the hall really, and thats the problem.Its obviously very subjective.Sure the sex pistols were influencial enough to get in but i agree with keno that one lp is hardly a body of work that should get them even considered.Donovan had alot of big singles,but his lps were never considered to be masterpieces.I like him enough that i would vote him in though,but many i suspect would not.Gordon lightfoot wrote a ton of great songs,and three dog night had so many great singles too, great covers,but i cant remember all the lps from these artists like i can from other artists who are noted for landmark lps.Deep purple should be in for sure but many other artists you guys are mentioning are not really so worthy.Creedance clearwater should be in too i think.You can make a good case for the pros and cons of the others,as steel wis noted there are not too many ultra prolific and dynamic artists like the stones,beatles,or dylan floating around that are no brainers.Certainly the velvet underground was a great band.Were they prolific enough,its open to debate, but they recorded some great stuff.
