but you're dead on with Smoke on the Water.
Yes he is!
How many people learned how to play guitar because of that song?
Yep, and to this very day that is still a fact. I recall picking up my grandson from kindergarten class one day and he told me he just heard this "new" song and he just kept singing that riff over and over and he asked me to show him how to play it on his guitar when we got home. So true that this riff is the first guitar riff many learn how to play, for me the riff is the only guitar riff I ever learned to play! So I showed Coop how it went and, did you ever see the 2 and a Half Men show, where Jake is pissed off at his dad and keeps playing that same riff over and over again on his electric guitar? Well it was the same deal with Cooper after he learned that riff, for about 2 days that was all he would play, other than Coop didn't have a electric guitar yet, so it wasn't anywhere as loud to hear him play it over and over again on his acoustic. But for those 2 days Jackie (his mom) would look at me and say, "this is your fault grandpa!"..... I'll also note that because I almost never watch TV shows, at that point in time, I nor anybody else in my home, had ever seen the 2 and a Half Men show. Then about 2 years ago, I saw one of those shows in re-runs, as the TV station was showing two re-run shows of it a night, back to back. I was hooked on it from that first show I saw and within a year must had seen every one of them, including the one I noted above. When I saw that one it was extra funny because it happened in real life to my family, only just not as bad.
I just can't take Kiss seriously, though. Keno talked about the spotty musicianship of The Sex Pistols, but the members of Kiss are collectively awful musicians.
Yeah, when I say KISS should not be in the Hall, I compare them to baseball players. Letting that band in the Hall would be like letting a .200 hitter into the baseball Hall. But now that the Beastie Boys are in how do you not let in KISS? If the Beastie Boys were baseball players, they would be batting .125, Ronnie!
