RE: RE: Replies

Steve Jones is and always has been a more than competent musician.

He's competent I guess.

Glen Matlock is no slouch, either.

Yeah, he was cool, but officially he didn't play on any of the songs on that one LP - according to Jones anyway. Matlock claims he played on one song, "Anarchy in the UK". Drummer Paul Cook claims that he actually wrote all of the songs on the LP alone, other than Rotten helped him on a few of them. Jones and Rotten claim otherwise.... But do you know why he was thrown out of the band? Because he kept telling reporters that he was a Beatles fan, so they got rid of him simply because of that!

Sid wasn't just some guy, he was a musician, but not a bass player.

He was? When did you ever hear him play anything? A better question would be, where did anybody ever hear him play anything, anywhere? Nobody did; he clearly wasn't a musician. He never played bass at all, only pretended to play it while on stage as recorded bass parts were played and his amp was turned off. There was that lie when he was in the band, that he was a drummer for Siouxsie and the Banshees before joining the SP, but it was a falsehood, he was never their drummer or a member of that band. He did play with two of the band's members one night at a gig that lasted for less than 20 minutes, where they didn't even really play any music, they just made fun of the Lord's Pray. That was it as far as Sid and his musical experience went. Rotten said he was hired by the Sex Pistols because of his looks only. Yes he was a true punk, and also a bad junkie, and then a murderer, too, although he didn't become that until after the Sex Pistols were over with.

The Pistols may not have lasted long, but they smashed a hole in things that bands are still crawling through to this day.

Like what? Really, I'm not being rude here, what did they do that was new and different than anybody else did? They totally copied the antics of the Rockers from the '60s while at the same time making fun of them and putting them down. Maybe they did these things to more of a extreme than anybody else did, but where were they originals, and most important, why should they be in the Rock Hall?
