If just being the biggest and in the world for a bit should get you in, then The Bay City Rollers definitely deserve a spot, too. I'm not singling out GNR. We're way past the point of no return and like DA pointed out, it's not for anything other than to sell product. It's their turn to move some catalog material, that's all.

I didn't know Deep Purple wasn't in. They haven't aged well for me, but you're dead on with Smoke on the Water. How many people learned how to play guitar because of that song? I just can't take Kiss seriously, though. Keno talked about the spotty musicianship of The Sex Pistols, but the members of Kiss are collectively awful musicians. I don't need my music to be chock full of quality playing or anything, but those guys are pure spectacle. It's entertainment, but it's barely musical.
