Though I disagree with you about Madonna. I'm not a big fan of hers, but she went out and did it all on her own, and she played it her way. I can see U2 being in, too.
But I think there's just too many people in. It's supposed to be for the best of the best, not everybody that strung a few hits together. I think Creedence Clearwater was pretty great, but I'd never put them in a HOF because they only lasted a very short time and does anyone really ever try to sound like them? I think they were mostly just a spinoff of garage rock and they weren't all that original sounding. But the brief time they were together they absolutely burned it up with some really great songs that still sound pretty great. But to me, the HOF should be very exclusive. Maybe only one performer a year inducted. Maybe two, but not these laundry lists of people like they do now.
Because if a band like The Beatles or The Stones are in, then when you induct other bands you're saying they're that good. They should be thought of in the same league with The Stones and The Beatles. Guns N Roses? No fucking way. We're way past the the cream of the crop if we've gotten to them.
