I'd rather get the Stones with Keith than a dozen studio musicians attempting and failing to do what Keith has always done well (the closest comparison in this context being that Chinese Democracy debacle - speaking of G'n'R). Like when Brian was out of the band, they didn't bother finding guys who could play millions of instruments - they simply cut out the colorful instrumental experimentation for the most part. We've also seen evidence that the fewer guests/outsiders we have on a Stones album, the better the outcome.
