while no means a jazz aficionado, the first record I got into was John Coltrane's "My Favorite Things." That inspired me enough to watch Ken Burns' "Jazz" series, which in turn inspired me to get Miles Davis's big three: Sketches of Spain, Miles Ahead and Kind of Blue. All of these records are great on a rainy Sarturday morning with coffee.

I listen to a lot of music from the 20s/30s, in particular Fats Domino, but I'm not sure if that qualifies in most people's minds as jazz.
