I so want to like jazz. It's got all these cool ultra collectible records, it's got underground clubs and it all just looks so cool. But it's just so boring.
Totally agree.
When I was in my teens and still living in NY, I tired to get into Jazz in part because some of the coolest people I knew dug it. I would play the jazz stations when I worked my job in a toll booth. After about two months or so of that, I realize the music was at best okay, but I wasn't connecting with it. It's probably the only genre of music I don't listen to today other than Opera.
I enjoyed reading this thread even if I only joined in here late, but like 2000 man, most of you already know what I'm into. If you don't, I dig the Stones, Fabs, the old Alice Cooper group, Soul music, and lots of Simon and Garfunkel the most. Overall I love '60s and early '70s Rock, Motown, the early '70s metal bands, any hard Rock, and outside of Rock music, Chicago Blues, Country music; I dig Classical music a lot, too. But yes, I dig most music, including some rap, although I've always said, rap (other than hip-hop) isn't really music, it's poetry set to a beat.
