Tom Waits and Bob Dylan are the two guys who are right up there with the Stones, for me. Masters, the lot of them, and doing their own thing. John Lennon, including his Beatles tunes, is close behind. I also love Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. They're approaching my personal pantheon, as they continue to prove over the decades that there's nothing they can't do.

Jazz is a big favorite of mine. Lately, it's been all about Charles Mingus and Trombone Shorty. If you haven't heard Trombone Shorty, it sounds like it's from twenty years into the future - a fusion of jazz, hard rock, hip hop, and whatever else he gets his hands on. His album "Backatown" is a must-listen.
