I guess the main complaint simply becomes that he's the most famous drummer in the world, and it's due to his uber-talented bandmates and their songwriting, and not at all because of exceptional skill. It leaves him as being sort of the Thomas Kinkade of drumming, and it's not really his fault, per se. And unfortunately, I'm not going to give him much credit for sort of just filling a gap.
