Yes, but how did he feel years down the road? That was my point. Plus, this guy was "enraged" because it was clear to him those eight GIs blown to pieces died for nothing, nobody cared about them in his eyes because most people in the US knew they weren't really fighting for the defense of the US.
Keno, I think you just hit on what is the heart of this matter. I think many Vets are still fighting this war because they honestly know what you just pointed out. Sad really but in many ways to not recognize that they died in vain is an even great tragedy. Because if we do recognize this and prevent it from happening again, it wouldn't all be in vain.
SRW, I hope you find what you are looking for by visiting Vietnam some day. I suspect it will not be what you really expect. But I also think it will be beneficial no matter what it turns out to be.
