Steel Wheels

It's a known fact most here dislike this album. Why, I never understood. But my question is, rather than comparing it to Stones albums, how do you feel it stacks up against other music released in 1989? Off the top of my head I remember Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever which was pretty amazing, Aerosmith's Pump also amazing, Clapton also released Journeyman , but I like Steel Wheels better.
