That conviction was a long long time ago - not sure how many people besides you and I remember that it went down or what it was for(nobody lost a life) - you can really hold a grudge
Damn right! He is one of the top PIGS in the entire country and for those who forget, he still IS a convicted felon! He always will be (the pardon don't mean shit)! How come the good old "clean" game of baseball and their phony conservative leaders seems to forget about this?
For those who forgot (how could you?) or don't know, here are the facts on this scumbag: He was best of friends with another pig - disgraced President Richard Nixon. Steinbrenner was indicted on 14 criminal counts because of his work for and with Nixon, on April 5, 1974. He pleaded GUILTY to making illegal contributions to Nixon's re-election campaign and a felony charge of obstruction of justice on August 23. I'm sure if he hadn't copped a plea with the prosecutors (since he was promised a lenient sentence), he would have been convicted on all 14 counts. He got off very light of course, like all of these white collar criminals do, only being fined $15,000.00 (pocket change to him). Then to make matters worst, fellow Republican President Ronald Reagan, who was already suffering from a mental illness (and who never really ran the country anyway, what a great actor he was!) pardoned Steinbrenner on January 19, 1989, in one of the final acts of his presidency. But many of us (not just me LMG)will never forget or forgive this piece of trash.
If there ever was a phony when it comes to values, it is Steinbrenner!
