I think it's their most underrated album of all except for GHS. But I also think that it's an album that has to grow on you. It's probably not one that you're going to love when hearing it first. It takes some getting used to.
As far as I'm concerned, the only dud on it (but it's one of the biggest duds of their entire career) is Sing This All Together See What Happens. Gawd, what an awful, endless mess that is! It took me years (no, decades!), but I'm even starting to like Gomper. It's never going to be up there with Ruby Tuesday for me, but I'm starting to enjoy listening to the various instruments, when I'm in the mood.
I think one of the things that has hurt Majesties since the day it came out are the comparisons with Sgt Pepper. Those are unfair, because the two albums are completely different. I do not think that the Stones tried to copy the Beatles. Psychedelia was in the air in 1967 and a number of bands got a whiff of it, not just the Stones. The main problem with Majesties is that three members of the band were having legal problems at the time, which greatly disrupted the recording of the music.
