Bleed polls/S&G/CCR

vs.

In last week's Stones' poll the Bleed polls continued when we asked: Let It Bleed vs Dirty Work , which album do you like best? So, could Let It Bleed win as big as both Exile and Sticky Fingers did when we placed Dirty Work up against them? Yes, it did, winning with 96.6% of the vote. Not the record amount of votes that SF achieved against DW, but still the second highest percentage gained in the final tally of votes for any questions that we have asked in ten plus years of polling. My guess is it isn't likely we will ever see such results again in our polls, even when DW next goes up against any of the other Stones albums.

Remember that the final results from our ‘album vs album’ polls are listed at the Stones Fans Picks Page 2, where you can see how some of the other LPs that we have voted on stacked up against each other.

So now for week 527 of our Stones poll, it's week 5 of the Bleed polls and we ask:

vs.

Let It Bleed vs It's Only Rock ‘n Roll, which album do you like best? Yes, the results for this one will be much closer, for sure. IORR was the last LP with Mick Taylor on board, and the title cut was future Stone Ron Wood's song, which Mick talked him into letting the Stones use it. Ron was going to use the song on his then upcoming solo LP. Ever wonder how that very popular song would have been received if it had been released by Wood instead? But getting back to the album itself, I guess most fans look at this one as your typical, excellent Stones LP. Not one of their best, but still very good.

Now let’s head over to the Classic Rock poll.

For week 178 of this poll, we ask: What is your favorite song recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival? Oh yes, one of the very first country-rock sounding bands - that came out of San Francisco of all places. John Fogerty was of course the main man in the band, he sang the lead vocals, played lead guitar, and wrote most of the songs. Yet when the group first formed, it was actually his brother Tom's band. No other band seemed to put out hit singles better then CCR did. Their five number 2 hit singles was only bettered by Elvis, who had six number twos. Yet hard to believe, CCR never had a number 1!

So, from the 40 songs listed in this week's poll, which one will be your choice for the best of the bunch? Just click on this link: Classic Rock Poll, to make your pick.

Now let's look at the final results from last week's Rock poll

The question was: What is your favorite song recorded by Simon & Garfunkel? The top 14 songs picked from this question all ended up being very close in the final vote, yet no ties were recorded in that group, with one song ending up on the list directly after the other – most of the time by just a vote. “The Sounds of Silence”, their first single (after they dropped the name “Tom and Jerry”), beat out “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by just one vote to be the top pick.

Remember, you can check out the final tallies for all of the songs listed in last week’s poll at the Rock Poll Archive page. Or you can check out the poll’s top ten finish only at the brand new Top Ten lists, page 5 over at the Classic Rock site.

Thanks again to all of you who take part in both of our weekly polls!
